Get ready to hear me rave about one of the best hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at in my 15 years of traveling – the Watergate Bay Hotel. Brace yourself for phrases like “I didn’t want to leave”, “I wanted to stay here forever” and “the best I’ve ever…” because they’re all true.
You’ll immediately fall in love with the incredible sea view at the Watergate Bay Hotel – it’s that close to the beach!
Beach Lofts at Watergate Bay Hotel
I stayed in one of their Beach Lofts for two nights, and I didn’t want to leave. Designed to feel in a modern city loft, with an unbroken sea view. Sustainable design by Dynargh Design.
With the best view of the Bay, the suite has a wonderful bathtub and a corner sofa. Immersed in the sea-view, I spent hours enjoying my breakfast and a couple of glasses of wine while reading a book. I never wanting to leave that spot.
Zacry’s Restaurant at Watergate Bay Hotel
The first night my friend and I had dinner at Zacry’s Restaurant. With a wonderful menu of three courses, you will have the best and only the best quality local food.
From the delicate Octopus and crispy squid as starters, to the Miso Black Cod and the crispy Monkfish as mains. Everything was excellent and exquisite. The stunning Dark Chocolate Ganache and the Baba as desserts were delicious.
The service was unbelievably pleasant and friendly. All the staff treated us like queens.
Pool
The morning after we decided to have an early swim at the 25 meters ocean-view pool and it was the perfect blessing. With floor-to-ceiling glass on two sides, imagine yourself in the Atlantic, only warmer. Folding doors open alongside the pool on sunny days, bringing the outside even closer. The ultra violet filtration system and cutting-edge environmental technology keep chlorine levels low.
There is a fantastic Cliff-top hot tub and sauna as well.
Ready for our first breakfast, we made our own at the beach loft pantry space. An intimate and private space where only the guests at the beach lofts can have access. Wonderful selections of teas, fresh juices, pastries, jams, fresh fruits, puddings…everything you need you will find it. There is a waffle machine as well, where you can make your own waffles as a treat.
Wavehunters surfing lessons
As activity for the day the hotel booked for us a Surfing lesson at Wavehunters at the Extreme Academy. A private lesson for beginners, duration of 2 hours.
Undoubtedly, our teacher Aimee was an exceptional professional, friendly, funny, and had an abundance of patience. I had a blast and relished every moment in the water. To top it off, I highly recommend booking a private lesson with the team. Trust me, it’s an unforgettable activity you simply can’t miss while in Watergate Bay.
Late that afternoon, because I deserved it, after all the exercises, I had a 60 minutes freestyle massage. It was the best massage I ever had. I’ve been pampered by an extremely professional therapist. And of course, I didn’t want to leave that room!!
Living Restaurant
My friend and I have been for dinner at the Living space Restaurant. With a wonderful sea-view terrace, great and delicious selections of sharing plates, and lovely drinks. This is the place to sit back, breathe deep and make yourself at home. Wonderful atmosphere, super dog friendly space, and again, excellent service. My friend and I had Antipasti to share and local Fish and Chips. The best Banana sticky toffee pudding and Mango Sorbet.
The morning after we had breakfast at Zacry’s, for a continental breakfast. The buffet was delicious, all the ingredients fresh and to have a hot and savory meal option was just the best.
The check-out was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life! Ok, ok, I’m being dramatic, but I’m Italian, I’m allowed!! Seriously speaking, I didn’t want to leave. I fell in love with the hotel’s interior and comfort, with the stunning view, the glorious food and the attentive and friendly team. I’m sincerely thinking of quitting my job in London and moving to Watergate Bay Hotel happily ever after.
You will feel the same after you stay in, trust me.
