 I’ve lived in 6 countries, explored 55, and somewhere between a market in Uganda and a beach bar in Jamaica, I figured out exactly how I like to travel: slowly, locally, and off every beaten path known to TripAdvisor. That realisation became Aurorawanderlust.

I’m not here to sell you a 10-cities-in-7-days itinerary. I’m here to show you the neighbourhood restaurant the hotel concierge doesn’t mention, the hidden gem that doesn’t have a queue, and the kind of accommodation that actually feels like somewhere — rather than just somewhere to sleep. The difference between being a tourist and actually experiencing a place isn’t the number of flights you take. It’s the number of times you slow down long enough to let a place surprise you.

Slow travel isn’t a trend I jumped on. It’s how I’ve moved through the world for nearly a decade as a solo traveller — staying longer, going deeper, and consistently choosing the road that doesn’t show up in the first ten Google results. Some of my most extraordinary stays have been in hotels most people scroll straight past. Some of my favourite meals have cost less than a coffee at the airport.
