If you’re looking for an off-season getaway, I highly recommend visiting Corfu Greece and Sarande Albania! I went at the end of October and had an amazing time. The best part about visiting during the off-season is that the beaches are quiet, the streets are crowd-free, and the weather is still perfect at around 27 degrees most days. Plus, accommodations are much cheaper and prices in general are reasonable. You can truly immerse yourself in the local culture, and the people are so welcoming. Check out my Corfu and Sarande Itinerary!
During my stay in Corfu, I had the pleasure of staying in the most amazing Airbnb “Philharmonic Orchestra Apartment” with a picturesque view of Saint Spyridon church in the heart of the old town of Kerkira. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the airport to the old town, but taxis are also available. Just keep in mind that the buses aren’t always reliable. Don’t miss out on this wonderful destination!
Day 1 of a Guide to Corfu Greece and Sarande Albania
I had so many places on my “where to eat” list of Corfu Greece and Sarande Albania, and as soon as we arrived in Corfu’s old town, even before to drop off our luggage, my friend and I stopped at “Pitas Gyros Souvlaki” to have our first and not least chicken and pork souvlaki. Delicious. We spent our first day just wandering in the old town, watching the sunset in the Corfu old port, while eating dinner in this amazing family-owned restaurant. “Veranda Taverna” offers the best local wines and typical Greek food. We had – Greek salad, bourdeto and sofrito, all exquisite. Excellent service as well.
Day 2 of Exploring Corfu and Sarande Itinerary
On 28th October each year is “Ohi Day” or “Oxi Day”. It is celebrated throughout Greece, Cyprus and the Greek communities. My friend and I saw the lovely and very pleased parade in town.
After the parade we walked through “Dimokratias road” to “Anemomylos Windmill” and we swam in Garitsa bay where the water was perfect. Only locals at this point of the year are enjoying the last swim of the season. The water was so clear.
We stopped at the nearest restaurant “Anemomylos” to have cesar salad, a trio of greek sauces with pita, moussaka. All delicious again and the view was stunning.
We walked to “Mon Repos Park,” a 258-acre area with exotic long-lived plants, and visited “Mon Repos Palace,” an interesting palace where Prince Phillip was born. Then, we found a hidden gem at “Kardaki Beach” with a magnificent landscape where I swam topless. We ended the night in a couple of bars and a club to celebrate my friend’s birthday.
I fell in love with “Poltechnico” cocktails bar where at night turns to an enchanted spot location, and the cocktails are lovely.
“Yard club” was ok, but I don’t recommend it if you’re in your early 30s like me and my friend because it’s full of teenagers!!! Also the club is extremely small and after a while you feel trapped.
