Ciao everyone, another day, another day trip from the busiest city in the world – London. Yeah, we all love London, but sometimes we just need time to relax in a quiet town. This time I went to Broadstairs and Ramsgate, around 1 hour and half away from St Pancras Station as day trip from London.
I always strive to stay within a small budget of £50 to make these day trips accessible to everyone. To start, the train cost was less than £15, departing from St Pancras Station. Moreover, the two lovely seaside towns in Kent, Broadstairs and Ramsgate, offer plenty of attractions to explore as day trip. The Viking Coastal Trail, a beautiful coastal walk that connects these two towns, provides the best view of Dumpton Bay.
Brief tour of Broadstairs and Ramsgate
Broadstairs is a hub of exciting activities that are sure to keep you entertained throughout the day. Pack a picnic basket and enjoy the sun-kissed sandy beaches. Take a stroll through the charming town center for a bit of shopping. Craving something savory? Treat your taste buds to some authentic fish and chips or quench your thirst at one of the lively local pubs. For nature lovers, exploring the stunning parks and gardens is an absolute must-do. And if you’re a history buff, don’t miss the chance to visit the renowned Charles Dickens Museum. Which is a treasure trove of fascinating artifacts and stories. With so many things to do and see, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience in Broadstairs!
The restaurant I decided to stop for lunch was “Sardinia” an Italian restaurant. With the best set menu for 2 courses and a glass of wine for £15! Such generous and delicious portions, and the seafood pasta was incredible.
Ramsgate boasts one of the most picturesque harbors I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing in the UK. Not only that, but there are a plethora of activities to partake in. However, upon reaching the town after a 40-minute walk from Broadstairs, I was disappointed to find that all the shops were closed. It’s easy to forget that in these charming little towns, shops and bakeries often close as early as 3:30-4pm.
Day getaway to Broadstairs and Ramsgate
During my visit to Broadstairs and Ramsgate as day trip, I had a list of must-see places and activities. I was excited to check out the charming Italianate Glasshouse tea house. Wander through The Arches with its independent shops, galleries, and bars. Visit the Vinyl cafe and Record shop, and explore the quaint Pegwell Village. Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying the different pubs and tea rooms in the area.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t complete everything on my list due to time constraints. But that just means I have a great reason to come back and explore these places properly.
