Short Story

The original medieval defensive castle with its gatehouse and walled bailey was built in 1270. In the 15th and 16th centuries the Boleyn family added the Tudor dwelling within the walls.

After the many families who owned the Castle, William Waldorf Astor invested time, money and imagination in restoring it. He built the ’Tudor Village’ and created the gardens, lake and golf club.

My friend and I had an amazing picnic at Hever Castle, complete with delicious food and stunning views of the natural surroundings. The picturesque location was perfect for relaxing, enjoying each other’s company, and even reading a book or taking some memorable pictures. As we explored the castle and its gardens, we felt transported back to medieval times and imagined what it must have been like for members of the royal family. The different gardens at the castle were truly magical and offered endless opportunities for dreamy wandering, including the Italian Garden, Rose Garden, Tudor Garden, Blue Corner, Two Sisters’ Lawn and Pool, Sunday Walk and Church Gill Walk, and Diana’s Walk and Faith’s Garden.
