Southend Day Trip from London

Escape the hustle and bustle of London with an affordable day trip to Southend-on-Sea. Discover a charming coastal town just an hour away from London’s Liverpool Station or Fenchurch Street Station, for under £50. In this trip, I spent less than £20 on train fare. I visited during the summer months (July-August) and enjoyed a serene getaway from the busy city life.

After stepping off the train, my friend and I immediately set off to explore the charming coastal town. Our hunger pangs reminded us that it was already lunchtime, so we headed straight to “The Market Place Bagel Bar”, a hidden gem known for serving the best bagels in the UK. The extensive menu had us spoilt for choice, and we finally settled on the Turkey Cubano and the Philly cheesesteak. The bagels were soft, fresh, and loaded with generous fillings that left us feeling so satisfied. The cosy ambiance of the bar made the experience even better. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Southend on Sea as a day trip from London, it’s definitely worth a stop!

The sun was shining and the sky was a mesmerizing shade of blue. We decided to head towards the promenade and were pleasantly surprised to find the funfair open. We couldn’t resist the urge to hop on the Ferris wheel and enjoy the stunning view of the town and the sea from above.

Thorpe Bay as Day Trip from London to Southend

After the ride, we resumed our walk towards Thorpe Bay. The walk was a feast for our senses as we enjoyed the stunning views of the sea and the charming townhouses that lined the streets. We even stopped to take a few pictures in front of the vibrant and colourful beach huts that added a unique charm to the town.

As the sun started to set, we made our way to a nearby hotel rooftop bar. The ambience was perfect – laid-back and chic. We ordered a couple of glasses of white wine and settled in for an unforgettable sunset. The sky was painted in hues of orange, pink, and purple, creating a breathtaking canvas in front of us. The gentle sound of the waves and the cool breeze added to the magical atmosphere.

It was the perfect end to a perfect day trip from London to Southend-on-Sea. The memories of this day will always stay with us, and we can’t wait to come back and explore more of this charming coastal town.
